MCC Receives $150,000 State Grant to Support Adult Students

Muskegon Community College has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) in partnership with the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) to support its students enrolled in the Futures for Frontliners and Michigan Reconnect programs.  Read more about this opportunity for adult students.

MCC’s Nursing Program Ranked #1 in Michigan

Best Value Schools ranked the Muskegon Community College Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program as number one in the state, adding to MCC’s long list of accolades.  MCC’s nursing graduates remain among the national leaders with their first-time pass rates on the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) for registered nurses (RNs) and practical nurses (PNs), scoring a perfect 100 percent last year.  See the Best Value Schools ranking and learn more about MCC’s nursing program.

Distinguished Alumna, Trustee Osborn Providing Unwavering Service

MCC Board of Trustees Chair Diana Osborn is achieving a very rare record: over 50 years of service to Muskegon Community College.  Diana evolved from a work-study student in the late 1960s to the Executive Vice President.  Following her retirement after 42 years with the college, Osborn was elected in 2010 to the Board of Trustees and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013.  She also serves on the Executive Committee for the Foundation for MCC Board of Directors as the Immediate Past President.  Read more about Diana Osborn’s years of service.

Lakeshore Fab Lab Manager Receives 2021 Onshape Educator Award

Chris Kaminsky, who manages Muskegon Community College’s Lakeshore Fab Lab, received the 2021 Onshape COVID Hero Award for his “ability to pivot and innovate with Onshape to help the world in a time of crisis” during the current academic year.  Read more about the award. 

Virtual Express Registration Days Make it Quick and Easy to Start at MCC

MCC's registration day events help prospective students prepare for fall classes with one quick and easy event.  The online events allow students to complete orientation, advising, placement testing, and scheduling.  Over 100 students signed up for the July 8 Express Registration Day.  Learn more about MCC’s registration events.

MCC named Jordan Carlyle (right) its Female Athlete of the Year, Shane Thompson (left) its Male Athlete of the Year, and Megan Crowley (center) its John G. Thompson Student Athlete of the Year for the recently completed 2020-21 academic year.  In addition the following earned NJCAA All-American Honors:  Jordan Carlyle - Volleyball 1st team; Tobias Bak - Men’s Soccer 2nd team; Ellie Adams - Women’s Soccer 2nd team; Jared Evans - Baseball 2nd team; James Chapman - Men’s Soccer 3rd team; and Makayla Thompson - Softball 3rd team.  Get more Jayhawk Athletics updates at
