2022-2026 Strategic Plan Developed with Community Input

After several months of strategic planning committee meetings and collecting public and campus input, the MCC Integrated Planning Steering Committee finalized three goals and ten strategies for MCC’s next strategic plan.  The new 4.5-year plan commences in January 2022.  Review the new goals and provide your feedback.

President Nesbary Receives Living Legend Award

Muskegon Community College President Dale K. Nesbary received the 2021 Muskegon BEAT Living Legend Award, presented by the Muskegon-based urban radio station 103.7 The Beat, on Nov. 27 at the VanDyk Mortgage Convention Center in downtown Muskegon.  Read more. 

Completion Coaches Supporting Students

To strengthen our support of student success, MCC invested in the hiring of two completion coaches, Emily Merten and Kaylee Kapatos.  The coaches work with students to help them identify and utilize their strengths while empowering them to succeed at MCC and accomplish their academic goals. Director of Admissions Receives Inaugural 2021 Homegrown Hero Award

Stephanie Briggs, the director of admissions at Muskegon Community College since February of 2016, received the Homegrown Hero Award during the inaugural Shades of Excellence Professionals of Color Showcase.  The event was sponsored by the Muskegon Young Black Professionals (MYBP).  Read more about Stephanie’s award.

Free Assistance with Financial Aid Applications on Fridays

In support of institutional goal #2 to “Increase awareness of and improve systems related to financial aid, scholarships, and other funding sources,” MCC offers FAFSA Fridays, a free event for anyone to get help with completing Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.  Get dates and details for FAFSA Fridays.

MCC Receives Award for Student Participation in 2020 Presidential Election

Muskegon Community College was among six Michigan colleges and universities receiving awards for nonpartisan student participation in the 2020 presidential election.  Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced the Michigan winners of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge on Nov. 9.  Learn more about the ALL IN award.

Express Registration Day December 14 

Express registration provides future students with the opportunity to complete registration and the other steps needed to support a successful semester.  The winter semester begins January 10 and MCC offers 40 associate degree programs and 35 certificate options.  Learn more about Express Registration.
