Wrestler Josh Kenny Earns National Championship

Josh Kenny won the 174 lb. title at the NJCAA Wrestling Championships March 5 in Iowa.  He was also named the NJCAA Outstanding Wrestler.  Teammate Bronson Jewell earned All-American honors with 7th place at 184 pounds.  The Jayhawks finished 15th nationally.  Read more.

Michelle Lifer Named to 2022 All-Michigan Academic Team

Muskegon Community College student Michelle Lifer has been named to the 2022 All-Michigan Academic Team and will be honored on March 7 in Lansing at a luncheon sponsored by the Michigan Community College Association and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) international honor society.  Students are selected based on academic achievement, community service involvement, and leadership accomplishment.  Read more about Michelle.

Workforce Grant Students Complete Manufacturing Class

The first Muskegon Community College students to complete the Manufacturing Basics class through the One Workforce Grant were recognized on Feb. 16 in the Sturrus Technology Center by the college’s Workforce Development Department.  Meet the One Workforce Grant premier class. 

Faculty Member Wins Prestigious Meijer Gardens Art Prize

Lee Ann Frame, a longtime Muskegon Community College art faculty member, has received a $5,000 cash prize as one of two 2021 winners in the prestigious Ray and Nancy Loeschner Art Competition sponsored by the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids.  Read more about Lee Ann. 

Three Students Win Statewide LAND Awards

Three Muskegon Community College students, Jane Hoppe and Robert DeRose in graphic design/illustration, and Benjamin Skujins in creative non-fiction, have earned statewide awards in the 2022 Liberal Arts Network for Development (LAND) annual competition.  Read more about the awards.

Scholarship Applications Due March 31

Feedback on MCC’s Strategic Plan Goals Encouraged

Throughout 2021, MCC engaged students, community stakeholders, and employees in a process to develop MCC’s 2022-2026 strategic plan.  These collaborations produced a new 54-month strategic plan that builds on our accomplishments and aims to position Muskegon Community College as the best community colleges in the nation.  Student and community input will continue to guide the process.  Share your feedback at  In addition, students and the community will be invited to join President Nesbary for a feedback session in April.  Information about the new plan is available at
