Community Invited to Strategic Plan Launch Celebration

Please join Dr. Dale Nesbary, and other members of the MCC leadership team, to review our new strategic plan goals and provide your feedback.  Participation of community members and students helps ensure our goals will meet student and community needs.  In addition to getting insight about the goals and strategies, event participants will have the opportunity to provide input that will be used to prioritize initiatives over the next year.  Additional information about the process and launch event is at Register for MCC 2022-2026 Strategic Plan Launch Celebration.   

MCC Presidential Search Narrowed to Three Finalists

The national search to replace Dr. Dale K. Nesbary, who will retire in June as president of Muskegon Community College, has been narrowed to three finalists, who will participate in all-day interviews on April 13, 18 and 19.  Meet the finalists and learn about the next steps.

Public Events Resume, Summer Semester Begins Monday, May 16

In conjunction with the start of the summer semester, MCC will resume in-person events including Carr-Fles Planetarium shows, on Monday, May 16.  See the MCC event calendar.

Women’s Basketball Team in NJCAA Division II National Championship

A very successful 2021-2022 season came to an end for the Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team with a 60-52 loss at the hands of North Central Missouri College in the consolation game at the NJCAA National Championship.  Read more and meet the team.

Faculty Lead Great Michigan Read Discussion

A Great Michigan Read book discussion of “The Women of Copper Country,” Mary Doria Russell’s gripping account of the valiant effort in 1913 to unionize the copper miners in Calumet, MI, will take place 7pm Thursday, April 14.  Five MCC faculty members are the panelists.  Read more about the event.

10-Minute Play Contest Winner Announced

The inaugural 10-Minute Play contest, organized by Muskegon Community College’s Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD) English Honor Society chapter, culminated on March 26 in Overbrook Theater, where the audience members chose their favorite from a live reading of all six finalistsLearn about the winning play.

MCC Named American Welding Society Accredited Testing Facility

Muskegon Community College has earned full accreditation with the American Welding Society (AWS) as an Accredited Testing Facility (ATF) for welder certifications.  The only AWS Accredited Testing Facility in west Michigan and only one of six in the state, MCC can now offer these credentials to professional skill trades welders, local industry and MCC students.  Read more about the accreditation.

2017-2022 Strategic Plan Final Outcomes Report Available

The Muskegon Community College 2017-2022 Strategic Plan: Successful Students, Successful Communities, concluded six months ahead of schedule with 94 objectives successfully completed.  See a summary of 2017-2021 accomplishments that supported student success.
